Essay Help
Hi there!
I’m a veteran writer with 25 years of experience — and an expert on crafting engaging first-person narratives that cut through the BS to appeal to readers. My personal essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Cut, The Huffington Post, Glamour, AARP, Runner’s World, Billboard, Kveller and more. In addition to essays, I’m a two-time L.A. Press Club finalist for my arts & entertainment profile writing — which cuts to the core of what makes a person tick.
I’ve also been teaching non-fiction creative writing at the prestigious Gotham Writers Workshop since 2018.
Journalists have a special edge in this field — we know how to successfully land on a niche topic, start with a catchy intro, hit important points and craft compelling prose. As an instructor, I love helping my students find their own voice and organize their thoughts.
i’ve been helping out relatives and friends’ kids with their essays for a few years, but now I’d like to branch out and take on more clients. I’ve done my research on the college essay process (including the Common App) and have access to essays that led to entrance into top universities such as The University of Michigan.
Need a topic? Help with establishing your point? A pure copy-edit read? I got you.
I do have a writing course on Skillshare available online. It’s a little dated but it shows a little bit of how I work/my personality:
